1. Having made a significant amount of progress or advancement. We were already well into the project when the boss decided he wanted to go in a different direction with it.
2. Quite advanced in some period of time. My dad was well into his 50s when he had me, so you're definitely not too old to have kids. It went well into the night before we finally finished up.
