To be free from difficulties, obstacles, or challenges, as of one's progress or advancement. If we can just get the application approved, then it should be smooth sailing from there. Organizing the event was really stressful, but it actually turned out to be pretty smooth sailing on the day. We should be there soon. Now that we're past the traffic jam, it'll be smooth sailing from here on out.
