clear sailing

Progress or advancement that is free from difficulties, obstacles, or challenges. We should be there soon. Now that we're past the traffic jam, we should have clear sailing from here on out. Organizing the event was really stressful, but it actually turned out to be pretty clear sailing on the day. If we can just get the application approved, then we should have clear sailing from there.

Fig. a situation where progress is made without any difficulty. (*Typically: be ~; have ~.) Once you've passed that exam, it will be clear sailing to graduation. Working there was not all smooth sailing. The boss had a very bad temper.
