fall

fall

1. verb To be arrested for a crime. Can you believe that mob kingpin finally fell? Every criminal screws up and falls eventually. No one's luck lasts forever. I never thought I'd see the head of the crime ring fall, dang.
2. noun One's arrest for a crime. I refuse to take the fall when I was barely involved in this to begin with. I'm not taking the fall for my former account—he's the one who falsified the records! If this scandal keeps getting bigger in the news, someone will definitely have to take the fall for it.
