1. To become disturbed, agitated, or excited, usually after a specific incident or event. Of course we got shook up—the gunshots were really close to our house! There's no need to get shook up—earthquakes and tremors are extremely common around here. A: "Don't freak out." B: "Come on, who doesn't get shook up over a deafening bang like that?"
2. To cause someone to become disturbed, agitated, or excited. In this usage, a noun or pronoun is used between "get" and "shook." I know that eviction notice has gotten David shook up. A: "Why's Nate acting so weird?" B: "Some beautiful new girl in his class has him shook up." I know the accident has gotten you shook up, but at least it was just a fender-bender.
