everybody and their brother

everybody and their brother

Used hyperbolically to express a large number or a majority of people. I'm so jealous, everybody and their brother is going on a vacation this summer except for me. I just wanted to have a small dinner party, and now you've invited everybody and their brother! What are we going to feed all these people? Everybody and their brother has that brand of smartphone. I'd rather have something a bit more unique.
