I didn't think I would ever see the day

cliché An expression of surprise or astonishment that something has occurred or come to pass. Often used facetiously or sarcastically. I didn't think I would ever see the day that this company would suffer such a humiliating blow to its reputation. Wait, you did all your chores already? Without me having to nag you? Wow—I didn't think I'd ever see the day! I did not think I'd ever see the day that cars would be able to drive themselves on the road.
