be in hell
To be in an extremely unpleasant or difficult place or situation. Sometimes used facetiously or sarcastically. They may pay really well, but I felt like I was in hell every second that I worked there. A: "I know you wanted to go home, Tom, but Katie and I want to spend another couple hours here at the mall." B: "Oh, God—I'm in hell. Please, just take me back home already!" I'm an introvert at a football game—basically, I'm in hell.
