first

slang Commonly found in the comments on popular social media posts.
1. A comment left by literally the first people to view a post, so as to highlight their devotion to the content creator. A: "But if I don't comment 'first,' how will she know I clicked on her video the second she uploaded it?" B: "She has millions of followers—do you really think she reads the comments?" I can't breathe! The creator liked my comment of "first"! Oh my gosh, this is the best day of my life! What do these people who comment "first" want, a medal? No one cares that you have notifications for this person turned on!
2. A comment that encourages others to "like" the first picture on the commenter's page. A shortening of "first for first." A: "Why did you write 'First!' on Kylie Jenner's Instagram post?" B: "So that her fans will like my pictures too!" A: "I miss when I used to get actual, thoughtful comments, instead of 'first' and scams." B: "Well, you're famous now—that's what happens when people's accounts grow." To be honest, if someone comments "first" on a celebrity's post, I am definitely not checking out one of their posts!
