happy warrior

One who remains stalwart and undiscouraged in the face of adversity. The phrase is often applied to politicians who are nominated for higher offices but ultimately are not elected. The other party's candidate is so strong that we need to nominate a happy warrior who can gracefully shoulder the disappointments we may face. Thankfully, the losing candidate was a happy warrior and not a sore loser. Anyone in the political world for 30 years must be something of a happy warrior, huh? It's not like you're going to win every election.

keyboard warrior

Someone who behaves aggressively online, as by making inflammatory posts or comments. Don't pay him any mind—he's just a pathetic keyboard warrior trying to pick a fight. These keyboard warriors would never say such awful things if they were face-to-face with you. They're only tough behind their computer screens.

road warrior

slang Someone who travels frequently or constantly for business purposes. After taking the promotion, I became something of a road warrior, having to travel all over the country to meet with vendors and suppliers. With more and more business being conducted online, the days of the road warrior may be coming to an end for our company.

social justice warrior

A derisive term for someone who supports or upholds very liberal or progressive views on social issues. This phrase typically implies that such a person is overzealous or disingenuous. Often abbreviated SJW. These social justice warriors want to control every aspect of our lives! Betsy used to be pretty moderate in her political views, but she turned into a total social justice warrior in college.

weekend warrior

Someone who very actively or enthusiastically pursues or engages in some activity or hobby on the weekend, as due to having regular employment or other obligations during the week. Our soccer team is just a bunch of weekend warriors who have jobs and families to look after during the week. I still love video games, but I'm more of a weekend warrior these days.
