2. slang A state of nervous or frantic excitement, anxiety, or confusion. Used especially in the phrase "in(to) a twit." The whole town has been in a twit over the proposed demolition of the historic building. She always gets herself into a twit whenever exam time comes rolling around. I don't understand why people get in such a twit over these movies. They're so dumb!
