true threat
In law, a statement of intimidation that creates a genuine fear of harm in someone. As such, it is not protected as free speech and is open to criminal prosecution. Primarily heard in US. The court upheld the conviction, stating that the defendant's words constituted a true threat to the plaintiff, who had hired private security guards out of fear for her safety.
