Having or presenting an image or manner of masculine bravado and virility. It's no wonder there's so many mental health issues for men when we are expected to be macho all the time and repress any and all emotional vulnerability. For looking like such a macho car, it's got a pretty wimpy engine inside.
macho man
A man who is apt to behave in a stereotypically masculine manner, as by displaying strength, virility, and aggression (as opposed to empathy or emotional vulnerability). Hey, you don't have to be a macho man around me. I know you're going through a tough time right now, and I'm happy to listen if you need some emotional support. I hate going to the gym, so I could never be one of those macho man bodybuilders.

Also macho man. Characterized by exaggerated masculine traits. The term comes from the Spanish macho for male, used as either adjective or noun, and was first recorded in English in the late 1920s. Both it and macho man, dating from the later 1900s, are often used in a derogatory way.
