Irritating one, especially by impeding or interfering with one's activity or productivity. The kids are totally getting in my hair today, so I need you to take them out of the house for a little bit. The new intern has been in my hair all day, so I don't know how I'm going to get my report finished before the deadline. The interior designer can't get any work done if your puppy's in her hair like this!

1. Lit. tangled in someone's hair. (*Typically: be ~; get [into] ~.) My bubble gum got in my hair and I had to cut it out.
2. Fig. annoying someone. (*Typically: be ~; get [into] ~.) You can watch what lam doing, but don't get in my hair. I wish you wouldn't get in my hair when I'm trying to do something.

Annoying or bothering someone. For example, She was constantly in my hair, overseeing everything I did, or Dad was working on taxes, and the children were getting in his hair. This expression alludes to entangling one's hair. [Mid-1800s] The antonym, out of someone's hair, is often used as an imperative, as in Get out of my hair! [c. 1900]

If someone is in your hair, they are annoying you by getting in your way or interfering with what you are doing. At work, she had an unfortunate tendency to get in other people's hair. They were very busy and had little time to get in one another's hair. Compare with out of someone's hair.
