To be insatiably hungry with the urge to continuously eat, especially snack foods. The term is often used to describe one of the stereotypical effects of marijuana use. When I have the munchies, I just can't stop eating—it's one snack after another. A: "Why did you buy five different kinds of potato chips?" B: "I don't know, I guess I had the munchies last night." If we smoke some weed, we'll have the munchies, so what do you have for us to eat?

Munchies is connected with the word munch, which means ‘eat something steadily and often noisily’.
