To experience a period of time in which money is not plentiful or one is not successful. Judging from our earnings forecast for the next quarter, we are about to have some lean times. We had lean times after my father lost his job. There was barely enough to eat each day. You'll definitely have lean times if you continue to work in a field that's seasonal.
