enable (one) to (do something)
To allow one to do something. My boss's absence enabled me to establish myself as a key figure in our department. Keep the keys on you at all times—we don't want to enable anyone to rob our store. Mom and Dad never punish him, which ultimately enables him to do whatever destructive thing he wants!
