distant corner of the world

A far away and extremely remote foreign location. These events are not just the concern of some distant corner of the world; they will have an impact on each and every one of us. When I applied to study abroad, I envisaged myself living somewhere romantic like Paris or London, not this distant corner of the world. I seem like someone who's been to distant corners of the world? Wow, that's cool—I've actually never been out of the country!
