The reported number of date rapes is horrific, but it pales in comparison to how many go unreported each year. The fact that date rape occurs between people who know each other is absolutely bone-chilling. Of course he's arguing it wasn't date rape—he doesn't want to go to jail.
2. verb To force sex upon someone during the course of a date or other social outing. The survey found that many men who date rape are meticulously conscious about how they go about it. A: "She can't remember what happened at all?" B: "No. I bet one of those frat guys slipped her a drug during the course of the night and date raped her." A: "I'm sorry, he date raped a girl who was passed out drunk at the party? Shouldn't he be up on charges or something?" B: "Well, he comes from a rich family, and money can get you out of just about anything."

Sexual intercourse forced by the victim's social escort. For example, Date rape is much more common on college campuses than was previously realized. This term originated in the 1980s, when awareness of the phenomenon increased exponentially.
