1. To be cheated or swindled; to be unfairly deprived or taken advantage of. I always bring my dad with me when I go to get my car repaired, because I'm always nervous I'll end up being screwed by the mechanics. We should have won that game, but we were really screwed by the ref. Well, we sure got screwed on this deal. Those guys are long gone and so is our money.
2. To have no chance of success or recovery; to be in a hopeless or unsalvageable position or situation. Man, we are totally screwed if we can't get this prototype working before the big presentation. After yet another flop on the market, the tech company is seeming pretty screwed these days. The cancer has metastasized in my bones, so the doctors all but told me I'm screwed.
