1. An affirmation that a request or order from the ship's captain has been understood and will be carried out directly. A: "Lower the mainsail, sailor." B: "Aye aye, Captain!" Aye aye, Captain. I'll report to the deck. A: "Man your positions!" B: "Aye aye, Captain!"
2. An affirmative response to a request or order. A: "Hey, Tom, grab me a drink when you're heading to the bar, would ya?" B: "Aye aye, Captain! What are you drinking?" A: "We need this report done by tomorrow." B: "Aye aye, Captain. I'm on it!" A: "Can you be sure to pick up some eggs when you go to the supermarket?" B: "Aye aye, Captain!"
