DNAR
DNAR
An initialism of "do not attempt to resuscitate," a medical order meaning do not use CPR to preserve brain function or restore a normal heartbeat. Used especially in reference to end-of-life care. After consulting with his doctor, my grandfather decided to sign a DNAR order. There is a DNAR form in place, but the hospital still has the authority to intubate the patient. Mom's health declined so rapidly that no one knew for sure if she wanted a DNAR order or not.
