slang Diarrhea, especially that which is contracted by tourists who lack immunity to bacteria that can be transferred via food and local drinking water. "Basra" is a city in Iraq. The best way to avoid Basra belly is to drink bottled water. It would have been a great trip if it weren't for the Basra belly I had towards the end. I had such a bad bout of Basra belly that I feel like I spent most of my vacation on the toilet.
