To listen in on a conversation that one is not a participant in; to eavesdrop. Let's postpone this discussion until a later time—some people in the office have big ears. Janet definitely has big ears—if she overhears that you're pregnant, everyone will know by noon. I don't have big ears! You guys just talk so loud that I can't help but overhear what you're saying!
