An increase in public accusations of sexual violence and harassment, as well as swift reaction to and increased attention on such reports, following the publicizing of sexual misconduct allegations against film producer Harvey Weinstein (initially in an October 2017 article in The New York Times). Many women are speaking up about their own experience with sexual assault now, thanks to the Weinstein effect.
