rock and roll
A style of popular music from the mid-20th century known for its strong beat, electric instruments, and lyrics pertinent to teenagers. Often spelled colloquially as "rock 'n' roll." Did any one person in music do more to popularize rock and roll than Elvis Presley? A: "'Let's go to the hop'? Teenagers actually used to listen to this?" B: "My boy, this is what rock 'n' roll was back in my day!"
