bodice ripper

A historical romance novel typically published in the 1970s and 1980s. Before heading to the beach, Justine grabbed her chair, her sunglasses, and the latest bodice ripper from her bookshelf to read while she relaxed in the sun. When we used to stay at my grandparents' house as teens, we'd entertain ourselves by reading aloud from Granny's bodice rippers. I know a lot of people enjoy reading trashy bodice rippers, but that's just not me. I need to learn something from the books I read.
