What you've just heard or said proves, supports, or sums up my argument or point of view. (Adapted humorously from what a lawyer might say at the end of a legal presentation.) A: "I think we should put Billy in daycare so he learns how to play better with other kids." B: "But he hates having to share." A: "I rest my case." Ew, look at all the crickets on that sticky trap! I rest my case—we need an exterminator. A: "Did you hear what he just said to her?" B: "What a jerk!" A: "See? I rest my case!"
