humorous To depart quickly or suddenly. Likened crassly to the stereotypical quickness or eagerness with which newlyweds have sex after their wedding. Primarily heard in Australia. I'll have just one more drink, but I've got to be off like a bride's nightie after that. Jared was off like a bride's nightie once his ex-girlfriend showed up to the party. These kids will be off like a bride's nightie once they hear I've called the cops on them!
