hump (one's) drum

slang A "bluey" is a bundle of goods carried by a vagrant or traveler. Primarily heard in Australia.
1. To live as a vagrant. Have you saved up any money? If you lose this job, you'll be humping your drum before you know it! If the stock market crashes, will we have to hump our drum? I know my parents would never let me hump my drum, but I don't want to be dependent on them either.
2. To carry one's belongings on one's back. Primarily heard in New Zealand. Aren't there any attendants who can help us with this luggage? They don't honestly expect us to hump our drum, do they? I need to take some things out of this bag. It's way too heavy, and I know I'll have to hump my drum at least part of the way. I had to hump my drum all the way from the bus station, so my back is killing me!
