To blame one (for something). Please don't hold me to account for this misunderstanding—I was just repeating what Tracy told me. I was the lead salesperson, so I knew that I would be held to account when my team lost that big client. How can you hold me to account for this mistake? I wasn't the last one to sign off on the issue before it went to the printer!
