Do not place the blame on one; do not deem one responsible (for some wrongdoing, mistake, etc.). Yeah, you can try talking to Tom, but don't blame me if he's cranky—he's been in a bad mood all day. A: "Look, now all these are broken." B: "Don't blame me—I told Jeff to get the ones that don't break." Hey, don't blame me, I had nothing to do with that scheduling snafu.

(spoken) used to advise somebody not to do something, when you think they will do it despite your advice: Call her if you like, but don’t blame me if she’s angry.
