have a lie-in

To spend a prolonged amount of time in one's bed in the morning. Primarily heard in UK. Your mum's having a lie-in this morning, so we need to be extra quiet downstairs. I love having a long lie-in on Sundays. On Saturdays, I like to have a lie-in so I can read and just have quiet time to start my weekend.
