hack off

1. To cut something off, often with clumsy strokes or stabs. A noun or pronoun can be used between "hack" and "off." That's it—I'm going out and hacking off the part of the bush that's blocking the driveway! Can you hack off the burnt pieces of the roast? If you're gonna try to hack off the poison ivy that's growing in the hedges, please be careful.
2. To irritate or annoy someone. A noun or pronoun can be used between "hack" and "off." He keeps undermining me in front of the boss, and it's really hacking me off. You don't want to hack off your userbase with unreliable customer support. I'm not surprised that intern got yelled at—she was late, and lateness really hacks off the boss.
