slang To go completely awry; to totally fail. Plans for the gala went flooey after our chief donor backed out and took his millions with him. We were thinking of going to the beach, but that went flooey when it started pouring rain. I did have grand plans for the night, but they all went flooey when I got a flat tire on my drive into the city.
