To wait to make a definitive judgment on some thing or situation. Often used as a phrase of encouragement. I'm trying to stay calm and just give it time, but I'm really worried that I hate my new job. You two have only lived together for a week—give it time. You will have a great freshman year, once you're settled into your new environment at college! Just give it time.

Give it time.

Be patient.; In time, things will change. (Usually said to encourage someone to wait or be patient.) Things will get better. Don't worry. Give it time. Of course, things will improve. Give it time.
