To become overly enthused by or excited about something that is currently happening, especially to the point of being distracted, unfocused, or oblivious to something else. A: "Dad, you can stop cheering now. Everyone is staring at you." B: "Sorry, I was just so proud of your victory that I got caught in the moment." Everyone in the rally got so caught in the moment none of us stopped to think if we were causing problems for the rest of the neighborhood. You're a major league player now, kid! It's hard not to get caught in the moment, I know.
