end of play

In business, a working day's end. Often used in the construction "by the end of play," it refers to the end of a given day's play in sports such as cricket or tennis. Primarily heard in UK. I'm under a lot of pressure to finish this report by the end of play. Legal called me with this big problem right at the end of play, so it seems I'll be staying at the office a bit later today! Any chance you can log this new data by the end of play?
