cop it sweet

slang To experience unexpected good fortune. Primarily heard in Australia. I didn't study for the test but copped it sweet when a power outage closed school for the day. I came home after curfew, but I copped it sweet because Mom and Dad were still out themselves. A: "You didn't do the homework assignment?" B: "Yeah, but I copped it sweet because the teacher forgot to collect them."

mainly AUSTRALIAN, INFORMAL
If you cop it sweet, you accept harsh treatment or a punishment without fighting back or complaining. Bullies tend to lose interest in a victim very quickly if that victim refuses to cop it sweet.
