checkup

A routine examination by a doctor, as to make sure that someone is in good health or to monitor an illness. Oh, don't worry, it was just a checkup—everything's fine. I'm doing better, but I still have to go for checkups to make sure that my cancer is in remission. I know it's commonly held that people should get yearly checkups with their doctor, but going to the doctor—for any reason—just totally stresses me out.

I know it's time for the vet to give Fluffy a checkup, but I just hate forcing her into the car—she cries the entire way there.
