blank slate

blank slate

A person, thing, or situation that is yet to be shaped, developed, determined, etc. A reference to a stone writing tablet that has not been marked yet. After that fiasco in Texas, I'm moving to Oregon so I can have a blank slate in my career. I only teach students under the age of 10 so that I can work with a blank slate. Look, let's just scrap everything we've worked on so far and start again with a blank slate.
