To no longer have a relationship with someone, often because of hostilities or disagreement. Dave has been estranged from his children ever since his divorce from their mother. What happened between Molly and her mother? How long have they been estranged from each other? I was estranged from my family for a few years, but they've since welcomed me back with open arms.
