To be insignificant; to result in nothing. The boss is just mad right now—I think all of his new rules will amount to a hill of beans. For all the congressman's posturing about overhauling the tax system, his plan to do so is just amounts to a hill of beans. The instructions in this manual are so outdated that they pretty much amount to a hill of beans.
