madam

A woman who runs or manages a brothel. The boy spent years tracking down his mother, finally discovering that she was a madam in a small town in California. The notorious madam kept up a rather demure and unassuming façade, but she would as quick kill you as look at you if ever you took liberties in her establishment.

the madam of the house

The woman who looks after and runs the house; the matriarch of a family or household. I'm afraid you'll have to ask the madam of the house, as she's the one who makes those sorts of decisions around here.
