Would it kill (someone) to (do something)?
Used to express annoyance, exasperation, or frustration that someone is not doing something that one thinks should be easy and inconsequential. My goodness, Bill, would it kill you to take out the trash once in a while? Your cousin is coming to stay with us for a couple of days. He's had a rough time lately, so would it kill you to be nice to him for a change while he's here? I know Sarah wanted to spend spring break with her friends instead of being here with us, but would it kill her to at least try having fun?
