To refuse to accept, tolerate, stand for, or involve oneself with something. Primarily heard in Australia, New Zealand. I won't have a bar of this scheme—I have a public image to upkeep! I tried to convince them to sell their stocks before the market crashed, but they weren't having a bar of it. It is clear that defendant was trying to play up to the judge's sympathy, but she wouldn't have a bar of it.
