whistle walk
whistle walk
obsolete The area between the kitchen and dining room on a plantation. Thought to be so called because slaves were allegedly required to whistle while delivering meals to the dining room to prove they were not tasting the food. Primarily heard in US. Can you hear that? Sounds like they're on the whistle walk—the food is on its way.
