1. Made available to be purchased. A: "I just heard that the Watsons' house is up for sale." B: "Oh? I didn't know they were moving out!" I'm putting some of my stuff up for sale to help pay my bills.
2. Able to be influenced by financial incentives; open to accepting bribes. Don't be so naïve, Jim. Everyone knows that most of the politicians running this country are up for sale. Why do you think they favor the giant corporations so often? A: "We'll give you half a million dollars to throw the fight." B: "Sorry, my reputation and honor are not up for sale."
