To show contemptuous or haughty disdain, distaste, or disregard for something. The duke turned up his nose at having to sit beside local fishermen during the press event. The members of the board may turn up their noses at our plan, but they'll come to realize that it's the only chance we have of keeping the company afloat.

Regard with disdain or scorn, as in She turned up her nose at the broccoli. This idiom was first recorded in 1779.
