1. To take the foremost position in a military formation. Jackson, you take point. Percy and Phillips will provide cover.
2. By extension, to be at the forefront of some issue, activity, or endeavor. The country has taken point on the issue of climate change, adopting some of the most comprehensive environmental policies in the world. OK, I want Sandra to take point during negotiations.
